a quick tour ...

What a fantastic Spring day! I stopped for a minute to have lunch in the back yard this afternoon and decided to take a few photos to share. Spring is my absolute favorite season and for some reason the flowers seem extra pretty this year!

I just love this plant! I don't remember the exact name ... but I do remember buying them at Target a couple of years ago. They need very little maintenance and they're drought tolerant - two of my favorite qualities!

This vintage cement statue was once part of a larger fountain. Now she hangs out peacefully in the garden.

Old Bauer terra cotta pots are one of my favorite things to collect. I get so excited every time I find one at a flea market or estate sale. I love all of the details and the fact that I can still use them the way they were meant to be used!

This is my very favorite old birdbath. The big white cement dove makes me smile every time I see it. The blue jays and sparrows still take baths in it everyday.

Chester takes his afternoon nap on this glider everyday. Usually flipped over on his back with his feet in the air! I found this old glider somewhere along the Texas/Louisiana border in a front yard and had to have it. It's been restored and works great!

The tomatoes have been planted and they're already getting big! Lemon boy is still my favorite & I can't wait to start eating them! There's nothing better than eating a ripe tomato right off the vine on a hot summer day.

The artichokes are all ready to be picked and steamed!

I can't wait to start restoring this glider. I have a bit of an old patio furniture addiction. I'm thinking this bench will look great in red and white. Thoughts? I'll have to post a few photos when it's done! Have a great rest of the weekend!

sneak peek ...

Today was a little to hectic & I'm a way to exhausted! Here's a look at what's in store for the shop this week. I love this black glass pedestal dish! It has such a pretty painted border and I think it looks fabulous holding a few simple spools of twine.

These cobalt blue candlesticks are amazing in person. The little hand painted flowers and the gold trim are just lovely. I'm tempted to keep them for myself!

I ran across a bunch of old food jars with super cute lids yesterday and decided to fill them up with random goodies. This one is full of old wooden spools of thread.

One thing I can never pass up is an old camera! This is a fantastic Polaroid model 700 land camera with the original flash unit and exposure meter. It looks great sitting on a shelf!

A vintage book bundle for boys. Three classic Zane Grey novels just in time for summer reading.

I've also decided to combine my handmade shop with my vintage shop! Look for lots of handmade items made from recycled and repurposed goods coming to the shop in the future. I'll also be adding prints of some of my favorite photos! This is a super exciting change and I can't wait to focus a little more on handmade items. This business card holder is made from a vintage bakelite mah jong rack and an old wooden ruler. Hope to see you all in the shop this week!

sneak peek ...

Happy Easter! Here's a look at what's in store for the shop this week. I stumbled on some amazing old books last weekend & the little French book of fables is one of my favorites. I think these three look great together.

I put together a few more sets of mixed silver plate. I just love mix-matched flatware & can't wait for it to be picnic season!

This pretty pedestal bowl is so worn the silver plate is barely there and the brass base is coming through. It's wonderfully shabby and has the prettiest details.

Vintage souvenirs are one of my very favorite things to collect! This postcard booklet is post marked 1945 and has the best graphics. It's displayed here in a vintage cast iron flower frog.

This group of industrial metal knobs makes for an interesting conversation piece. Display them together in a shallow bowl or use them in an art project.

An old military first aid box with a great industrial feel. It's perfect for storing small stuff!

I've had this pretty little landscape painting for a few years now & it's time for it to find a new home. It's super old, super shabby, and has an old repair right in the center. I think it's perfect just the way it is. Be sure to stop by the shop for new items all week!
